My best friend just called my ex boyfriend from a restricted number, and goes 'You suck,' and hung up. I'm not going to lie, it really did make me happy.
Yeah, i'm immature. I know.
That's really the only part of my week that's been blog worthy.
Hooray for *67.

The Slow Clap
Can I get something off my chest here?
The slow clap bugs the hell out of me. If you're not familiar with the slow clap, it's where you clap with a good one to two second pause in-between. It's best done with a large group, and guys tend to pull it off better than girls.
I was leaving the bus today and some lovely boys from my bus did the slow clap. Now, what exactly is the point of that? It made me giggle, but then the neurotic part of my head was thinking 'are my pants ripped?, did I sit in something?' You know, just wondering what the joke was. I'm sure it wasn't meant in a mean way, but the neurotic part of my head takes over when stuff like that happens. I just smiled and said 'have a nice weekend.'
So, that's my message for the day. I hate the slow clap.

'Seventeen is just a test'
So, there's this dude in my gym class that is basically THE cutest thing ever. I see him all the time, and I'd love to get to know him better, yet I just can't talk to him.
Anyway, we were picking our groups (2-3) in the weight room, and he kept walking back and forth because he didn't have a partner. I thought about asking him to join our group (Erin was my partner), but then nerves got the best of me so I kept my mouth shut. I'm not really upset about the scenario, because he kept smiling and giggling when talking to the girl he ended up being partners with, so it's best that I didn't I guess. I just really hate being shy. It always gets you screwed over.
On a lighter note... Is that not THE greatest icon ever?

Pie Pwnage
My mother had crazy amounts of work done on her jaw today, more than anticipated for sure.
The dentist told her that she's going to have to baby it for the next three weeks.
So, I thought i'd get her started on the right foot by making her some food she could enjoy without doing damage to her mouth.
I made green bean casserole for tonight, and I made tons of mac and cheese for tomorrow so she doesn't have to think about anything. Then I thought 'hey, as long as I'm on a roll, I'll try my hand at pie making.' Now, I'd like to think that i'm very good at baking, but pies were never some where I ventured. This isn't because I dislike them or anything, it's because my mom OWNS everyone at pie making. Her pumpkin pie is absolutely delicious, and always gorgeous. However, with a sore mouth, I'm sure pumpkin pie sounds really good so I went forward.
First off, I had no idea a pumpkin pie took so long to make. Second, I had no idea that you needed to cover your crust about fifteen minutes in. That's strange to me, but I don't argue with time tested truth. Around ten minutes or so ago, my pie came out of the oven. I took the tin foil off the edges, did the whole knife/toothpick test, and then put it on a wire rack as instructed. I had my mom come look at it and she said that it was really nice, and a whole bunch of other stuff.
I was like holy crap... The mother of all pie makers just said my pie was good! I was so happy. When I do something, I like to get it right. Plus, my mom is not one to lie about cooking skills [she prefers constructive criticism, as do I], so I knew she meant it!
I'm sorry if that was boring, but personally, it made me wicked happy. I love doing nice things for people, but I love it even more when they turn out just the way I had hoped!

I really absolutely hate snow
except for when it's falling like in a romantic movie.
Seriously, did anyone see how beautiful those big fat flakes of snow were?
It made even my cynical little winter-hating heart happy.

Cheese and tomatoes in perfect harmony
Alright,
I was trying to think of a blog topic today, and I think I'll roll with Elise's great idea of posting about a specific food I love. In her case, it was chocolate covered pretzels. In my case, it's pizza rolls.
Aside from mac and cheese, i'm pretty sure that there is no better food. Sure, they're absolutely terrible for you, but in reality, almost everything is, so i'm not deterred by this. I just make sure that they're an infrequent indulgence.
'Why pizza rolls when you can just have pizza?' Good question dear blogger, one for which I have an answer.
I've already discovered my absolute favorite pizza ever, and nothing can compare. There's this pizza place in Long Beach (Long Island) that has THE best pizza ever. It's absolutely delicious. Therefore, I can't claim that any pizza around here is the best, because it's just not!
However, the door is still open for best 'pizza related product' aka- Pizza Bagels, Pizza Rolls, Bagel Bites, etc.

Send Your Paper Airplanes
Since we've been getting in the spirit of giving, I thought this was an appropriate post. I think it would be nice if everyone would send a paper airplane to Hunter. They're wicked easy to make, it's not time consuming, and aside from postage, doesn't cost anything, so go and get some paper!

Five-Year-Old Cancer Patient Trying For World Record
A five-year-old Freedom boy is attempting to get into the Guinness Book of World Records for collecting the largest number of paper airplanes.
Hunter Winship began his quest several weeks ago as a patient at Buffalo's Women's and Children's Hospital. He has spent the past month there during his fight against Burkitt's Lymphoma, a rare form of cancer characterized by rapidly growing tumors.
"We've told him he has cancer and they're going to make his tummy aches go away and that he's going to lose his hair," said Hunter's mother, Cheryl Winship.
Cheryl said it is hard for Hunter to understand his illness, and that she and his aunt decided he needed a distraction from the seemingly endless hospital stays and tests.
That's when they came up with the idea of breaking a world record. They discovered that there were already records for the largest paper airplane, the smallest paper airplane, and the longest paper airplane flight. There was not, however, a record for the most number of paper airplanes received.
"We originally started this as a way to help out Hunter and we never dreamed this would help out the whole family," Cheryl said.
Now home from the hospital, Hunter has an incentive for pushing through his cancer fight. While Cheryl said Hunter's medical prognosis is good, it's the airplane project that's really lifting his spirits. He's received planes from around the world and right here in Western New York.
"It's taken over everything!" Cheryl said. "I think we're going to have to build an addition."
Hunter's nine-year-old sister, Brooke, said the nationwide support has encouraged not only her brother but her family.
"I hope we reach the goal so we can get in the Guinness Book of World Records and he can like reach lots of goals and like, I don't know, be famous," Brooke said.
So far, the family believes they've collected around 200,000 planes. They'll continue doing so until March 17th. If you'd like to help Hunter set a world record, you can mail a paper airplane to:

Little Bo Peep!
Everyone's obviously been a good blogger and been reading about our project to help out the soldiers, right?
Hopefully. haha.
Well, anyway, we got the names of our soldiers today!
The name of the soldier (I'm assuming it goes by class?)whose box I am sheperding is Michael Munson.
If you've been a bad blogger and have no clue what i'm talking about, go check out Mrs.Krieger's blog for more information. So far we're just focusing on what Mrs.Krieger called 'comfort items.' You know, like some good magazines (3/4 of our soldiers are male, so I don't think Cosmo is something they'd want).
So if you're out and about, and see a particularly awesome magazine, pick it up.
I mean, no one's forcing you, but $3/4 isn't going to kill you.
That's all for now.

'Head underwater, and you tell me to breathe easy'
I LOVE the song 'Love Song' by Sara Bareilles.
First, her voice is absolutely lovely. It's powerful without being overbearing. We need more strong female vocalists in the music world!
Second, I love the lyrics.
"I'm not gonna write you a love song
'Cause you asked for it
'Cause you need one, you see
I'm not gonna write you a love song
'Cause you tell me it's
Make or breaking this
If you're on your way
I'm not gonna write you to stay
If all you have is leaving I'm gonna need a better
Reason to write you a love song today"
Third, the beat is so catchy.
Soooo, go check it out.

Last entry was cranky
So I'm doing another one for today.
I'm generally a pretty positive person, but that whole ordeal just started me off on the wrong foot today. Sorry everybody.
I'm pretty freakin happy that one of my absolute best friends is sleeping over tomorrow. Girl days are the best. I love my guy friends, but I always feel my best with my girls. Plus, you can't really talk about cute dudes with male friends. They tend to not like that. haha.
Speaking of cute dudes!
Ryan Reynolds is so gorgeous. Why is it that no one talks about him as much as they should?
haha. Sometimes I'm pretty sure that I haven't advanced past middle school.

'Sometimes I doubt your commitment to sparkle motion'
I'd like to say that I have some amazing story to wow you with, but I really don't.
I'm in possibly the worst mood ever.
Long story short-
Boy says girl can't be with boy because of his band, and the whole distance thing.
Girl is trying to understand, and falling terribly short.

The race
To become President, that is!
A few people have talked about this already, so i'll throw in my two cents.
First off, let me start with Hillary.
-Sir Edmund Hillary incident
-Umm, Ron Brown, anyone? Who knows how she's raising money this time, or who's going to die because of it.
-Refusing to answer reporter's questions
-Yelling at reporters for asking a previously asked question
-Paying reporters to only ask certain questions
-And last but not least, what kind of self respecting woman would stay with Bill? Seriously. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but what the hell? Have some class, dear.
-Voting against a law that would prevent desecration of the flag
-She's a flip flopper. From 2003-2004 she voted against almost everything that called for veteran funding, but as the war progressed and it became a more patriotic thing, she voted yes on veteran funding. As far as i'm concerned, veteran support is key. You should do it because it's right, not because it makes you look good.
Overall, I believe that she is a dishonest person with a shady political background.
Now, I understand what a lot of people are thinking...
'But Sami, the Clinton administration has always made my dollar go further. They support the middle class'
Okay, fine. However, As far as I'm concerned, the lives of all the men and women fighting over in Iraq, are far more valuable than me saving some money. Plus, Hillary has adopted a 'for the good of all' mindset that will NOT save you money. Yes, it will help the economy, and I believe it is one of her few decent plans, but if you're placing your bets on her just to save money... you're not going to.
Next, Ron Paul.
I don't know too much about him. I need to do more research.
What I do know is that he supports the legalization of Marijuana, which is a forward thinking idea that would greatly benefit our country. However, I don't think he has a snowball's chance in hell of winning the election.
Next, Obama.
I think he has a lot of great ideas, but he's promising a lot of things that he just can't deliver. We're in a deficit, this is not the time to be making hefty promises. This is the time for solutions. I just don't feel like he has answers to the problems our country faces. There's also that whole saluting the flag thing, but I haven't looked into that in any great depth, and it really just seems like a few isolated incidents.
As far as i'm concerned, McCain is the only way to go.

Dream Job
LANDSCAPER
I don't know anything about landscaping but I love nature, I love gardening, I love plants, and I love working with my hands so it sounds like an awesome job. However our society judges people on titles and land scaper isn't high on the list. haha.
So, I'm going to go to college to become a teacher. I picked that route because I figure it would give me a chance to learn more about things I should've paid attention to the first time around(history, english, etc.) Also, if I don't choose to go that way in my career, it's still useful knowledge that would make me a more well rounded person.
Regardless of I choose to do, I'd like to see some more of the world so I might take some time off after school to travel. You only live once, right?

Thought I'd share one of my favorite blogs with you. Essentially, it's a place to view cute little animals every single day that are sent in by the people who read the blog. What could be better than that? I mean, come on. How freakin' cute are those ferrets?

And just in case you're not used to the cutesy phrases,

'The things you own end up owning you'
Sorry kiddies(and Mrs.Krieger!), I didn't get around to blogging it up last night.
I came home and was informed that my room was in need of some serious cleaning. It took freakin forever. I was in there from around 6pm till 3am. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those weirdos that leaves food and other gross stuff in their room. I just had too much stuff, and a weird attachement to all of it.
After doing that, I felt really sad. I couldn't pin point why, but I just felt sad. It made me think of that whole Buddhist theory that the root of sorrow (well, one of them anyway) is desire. As a culture we constantly want things. Now, I don't really feel like I'm a person that's materialistic, but the idea that it upset me that those things weren't there suggests otherwise. I felt comfort knowing that I had them. A lot of people are like that. In turn, I started to think about Palahniuk's theory that in order to create, you need to destroy. The idea that you need to lose absolutely everything in order to gain anything. If you've seen the movie, you know what I'm talking about. The quote below touches on the idea, but it's from the book, which in my opinion is better than the movie. It's a fictional story with strong nihilistic overtones, but I still feel that we can learn a lot from it.
You can borrow the book if you'd like. Knowledge is useless if it isn't shared.
"We don't have a great war in our generation, or a great depression, but we do, we have a great war of the spirit. We have a great revolution against the culture. The great depression is our lives. We have a spiritual depression."

Valentine's Day
I come home today to the most b-e-a-utiful flowers today. Justin and I have been really close friends for awhile now and I knew he had some feelings for me but I never really knew that he felt so strongly. He went to all the trouble to make sure that he had my favorite flowers (Lillies) in my favorite color (pink) (with pink roses!) and he went to deliver them to my house while he was on his lunch break. My mom was the one who was home when he went to deliver them so she told me the whole story when I got home. I took pictures to show you guys but they're seriously so pretty and I'm not a good photographer so I feel as if I did an injustice to them. I've never gotten flowers before, and I just can't believe how sweet it was of him to do that. I mean, the classic red roses are nice, but it means soooooo much more to me that he paid such attention to what I really like, and not what everyone else is into. Awwwww. I know you don't read this, but just in case - Thank you Justin. You're seriously the sweetest.

Thank you
I was listening to a mix cd I made the other night with Empires and The Shins. It sounds like a weird mix, but I like it. They're both artists that relax me. Anyway, as I was listening to my mix, I started thinking about the first time I was introduced to each of the artists.
To begin this, you first need to know who Chris Gutierrez is.
First and foremost, he is an amazing author (aka- askheychris on livejournal)
Second, he is the subject of the song "Grenade Jumper"
"hey chris, you were our only friend and I know this is belated, but we love you back"-Fall Out Boy
Alright, back to the idea...
I was lurking through some entries and he was talking about a band a friend of his had started, and I said 'hey, if the dude loves Black Flag and Radiohead he must have good music taste.' So I check this band called Empires out. If you haven't checked them out already, seriously, go do it. They're on myspace, and they are slowly taking over the world. I'm not even kidding. They will be your new favorite band. 'Keep The Mood' has been on repeat for an unhealthy amount of time. haha.
http://www.myspace.com/Empires
The Shins were introduced to me back in tenth grade by a boy in my Guitar/Piano class. I'm going to be totally honest, I had the biggest crush on this kid, so when he said there was a band I needed to check out, I was quick to listen. Besides, I had a mix tape he made the year before and there were so many good songs on it. This dude just had an aura of coolness about him. He liked Gorillaz, David Bowie, Placebo, Coheed and Cambria, Third Eye Blind, and a bunch of little known bands that sung the kind of songs that were made for the best day ever.
He pulled my head close to his head phones and put on this video with a bunch of penguins. They've been one of my favorite bands ever since. Sure, Zach Braff put 'New Slang' in Garden State and catapulted the band out of their indie obscurity, but it was the boy in my class that made them what they are to me.
If you like that song, check out my favorite song by The Shins- "Pink Bullets."
The whole idea of this is that chance encounters can change the way you look at something for the rest of your life. If you ask me, it's truly amazing.
'Keep The Mood' has been on repeat for an unhealthy amount of time. haha.

The Shins were introduced to me back in tenth grade by a boy in my Guitar/Piano class. I'm going to be totally honest, I had the biggest crush on this kid, so when he said there was a band I needed to check out, I was quick to listen. Two things are infinite:
I'd like to see the school board more involved with our curriculum. I attended the board meeting last month and I was really shocked. I don't understand how the school board can say that they're acting with our best interest at heart when they're so far removed from where we are.

24/7 drama/fiction
Alright, I hadn't really planned on writing this again till the assignment started, but this really was bugging me and I'm feeling too lazy to put pen to paper, so I'm getting it out here.
I really can not tell you enough, how sick I am of this whole 'self-help' generation we live in. All this touchy, feely, 'let's talk about our feelings and find ourselves' bs is making me nauseous. If I hear one more person talking about how 'complex' and 'different' they are, and chattering incessantly about problems that don't exist, I'm going to explode.
I think people need to learn to take things at face value once in a while, and stop worrying so much. It's the whole proactive vs reactive thing. Why are people wasting so much time trying to self-diagnose instead of just working on the problem? That is, if there even is a problem.
hah, poor journal. =[
what a thankless job being a blog is.

First Entry like whoah
I created this blog today because Mrs.Krieger said we would be working on a blog assignment in the next week or so. I use livejournal (I have 3 accounts), but since she recommended blogger, I thought I'd use this for the assignment. So far, I don't like the formatting at all and I can't figure out where all the HTML stuff to edit your layout goes. LAME. Hopefully I'll get the hang of it. I put The Bunny Suicides as one of my favorite books, in my profile. I'm kind of re-thinking that one. haha. I included a picture, just incase you aren't familiar with the book. (Image credit goes to the author, Andy Riley)
I think I've thoroughly weirded you out, so i'm going to go do my spanish homework now.
hasta luego!
